Opening a Dimensional doorway is considered an advanced technique in my Ethananian practice and shouldn't be tried until you have the basics of grounding, centering and visualization down. As usual, the practice is done with a Dragon Guide, but don't be surprised if an other worlder comes by to watch and /or help. The Dimensional doorway is done on the astral (of course!) and done via visualization.
Just a few notes about Ethanania - First off, it's pronounced eth-an- nay- knee-ya. It is my name to a world I believe Dragons come from, or at least use as headquarters for other affairs. It's much like Earth, but magic has a stronger imprint there. While technology exists there, it is usually simple things such as clocks, computers and other such items. It surrounds The Mirrors as it's own dimension and is almost as old as the multiverse itself.
Ethanania, I have found, is a dumping ground for all sorts of other dimensional creatures, some of which who have escaped their own dimensions from complete collapse. It is a peaceful place where most Apprentices, Keylords, Rayvenspeaks and Timeweavers train. It can be a bit of a culture shock for someone who has never traveled inter dimensionally before.
Traveling via time is done the exact same way, except that you intend on a certain time as well as a certain place. One cannot change time, but one can interact with it and watch it. For example - if you go back in time to kill Hitler by shooting, he'll only end up hanging himself anyways.
Below is my meditation on how to open Dimensional doorways.
Imagine yourself standing in your room. Your dragon guide is beside you. Your staff is in your hand and you wear a protective amulet of your choosing. Your Dragon guide smiles at you.
'Today's practice shall be opening up a Dimensional Doorway. It is an alternative to traveling down the rope Highways in meditation. This new method is not as safe but it is faster. We will be going to Ethanania itself this time, as it is the safest place to travel other than The Mirrors.'
The Dragon bends over and with a fore claw, they draw a line of energy on the floor big enough for the two of you to walk over. Then they continue upwards and draw a door, minus a knob, before standing back. They tap the space between the door frames and instantly a bright green light bursts into life, a circling vortex of multidimensional energy gently playing with your hair.
'To open the door,' the Dragon says, 'you first must visualize where you want to go. Imagine the place with your intent, not your imagination. Know that you want to go some place in a modern time and intend on going there safely. It is not like the Dragon of Pern books where one must know exactly where to go visually. Because we are practicing first, the doorway will remain closed. Think of it of a bridge with no second side. However, you must know that the dimension exists before you try this technique, which is why you were taught how to travel the ropes first.' She snaps her claws and the door closes on itself in reverse order of how it was made. 'To close the gate, use your intention. Imagine and intend on it closing safely. ' The Dragon motions to you. 'Now you try. '
You bend over and imagine the energy around you forming a line as you draw a doorway. You feel the tingling as it flows through you and onto the floor and upwards. You intend on this door on opening where it should be. You trust the energy that you are handling will bring you to where you need to go. When the doorway is drawn, you slap the air where the doorway would be and are surprised that there is some give, like a curtain is being hit. Immediately there is a green flash and you feel the doorway convalesce into being.
'Very good!' your Dragon purrs. 'Keep Practicing!' they say. 'With time you may learn how to travel time via these doorways.'
When you are finished practicing, your Dragon makes you make one last doorway, this time to Ethanania itself. You are shocked to find that as you tap the space between the door frames, you see a picture form on the other side - another world! You feel the warmth of the day against your skin. Your dragon moves through the doorway, sending up little tendrils of energy. They motion for you to follow. You close the doorway when you are through to this new dimension. The dragon lets you explore.
When you are ready to come home, form another doorway and walk through it to your room and home.
