This meditation is one I've used frequently to speak to my shadow self. Speaking to the Shadow Self, or the darker aspects of one's personality, is not for the faint of heart, as it can open up raw wounds and uncover things you would rather remain buried. And if your shadow self does not want to follow you home - aka the fractured soul - you may have to come back several times until it does.
When speaking to one's shadow self, always be polite, no matter how rude or cruel it wants to be. It may even be particularly shy. No matter its personality, it will require you to earn its trust.
Below is my meditation.
Close your eyes. Imagine yourself with your spirit guide. You're in an open park. Low bushes are around its interior and tall trees circle its outskirts. There is a bright light from above but there is no sun. The park appears empty except for you and your guide. Explore the park.
When you are done exploring, call out to your Shadow Self. Ask it if it is willing to speak with you. If it is, be patient. Wait for it to appear. Listen to it speak. When it is done, ask if it is willing to return with you to your physical self. If it isn't, you may have to return again in mediation and speak to it again. If it stays, thank your Shadow Self for its time.
Slowly come out of meditation, counting from 5 to one. Open your eyes. You may now get up and go about your business.
