If you're like me and have a very limited income, shopping for pagan items can be a challenge. Especially when starting out. The good news is that you can still find some awesome stuff even when you're on a budget.
Thrift stores are a great place for chalices and candle holders. Heck, even my cauldron, when my friend found it, was a thrift store find. You can find just about everything at a thrift store, either outright usable, or with some clean up and decorations. One of My Transformer Chalices was found at a thrift store and decorated by myself. Some of my favorite items have been thrift store items, or from flea markets. My Bolines (working knives, not a ritual dagger, used for cutting things and digging out wax from candle holders) were found at both the Dollar store and at the Thrift store.
Flea markets and Garage Sales can come up with some of the best stuff for Pagan use! People would never suspect that a certain candle holder would be a good altar decoration, or that their old candle snuffer with a crescent moon on it would be an excellent representation of the Goddess. One of my favorite candle snuffers was a church garage sale find.
For stuff like Candles and candle holders, Dollarama and Dollar Tree is an excellent place to find tea lights and emergency tapers. I generally don't mind using solely white candles, but if you're more into the colored ones, dollar stores' seasonal sales will help you out with gold, silver, and red, even black, candles. I find Dollar stores are a good place to find good votive candle holders. Sometimes you can find quarter candles in shot glasses. And if you're not into physical candles, they have battery operated ones!
You can also get stuff like salt and garlic for the herb cabinet cheap, though I've been told that most grocery stores are cheaper when their herbs are on sale.
For wands and other doohickeys, going to a home building company such as Home Hardware or Canadian Tire can help with more interesting finds. A friend of mine found God and Goddess symbols in the drawer knob section of such a store.
Overall what you look for is up to you. These places are a good start for ritual items. As with everything, bless and purify the objects you use to cleanse them of anything that might be hanging on before using them.
